90s Vibes

June 11, 2016  //  Style

Whenever I’m asked my favorite movie of all time, that answer is very easy….Clueless. I saw it for the first time when I was 9 years old and it was my first exposure to the world of high school and “cool girls”. I instantly wanted to be just like Cher and became obsessed with styling my Catholic school uniform, plaid skirt and all, just like her. Clueless is the sole reason I wore platform Mary Janes with knee socks and rolled my skirt up to make it 3 inches shorter. Immediately after school, my friends and I would untuck our button up shirts so we could wear them peeking out from under our V neck sweaters. Growing up in the 90s, this school girl style will always be part of me, but now I can interpret it in my own way without any rules (or detention).

Some other 90 trends I think are worth mentioning for a little walk down memory lane. : Doc Martens, flannel tied around the waist, scrunched socks, Nintendo, pagers (my babysitter had one of these), mix tapes, Home Improvement (still one of the best shows of all time), T shirt ties, 90210, Birkenstocks, slap bracelets, Lip Smackers, Rock Paper Scissors, Gameboy (TETRIS!!!!), Furby, rabbit foot keychains, scrunchies, stick on earrings, Oregon Trail, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

You’re welcome. Where my 90s babies at?

X
