Hi loves! I hope your week is off to a great start! I have so enjoyed being home the last few days and re-establishing a bit of routine. I’ve gotten some great workouts and have been cooking lots of healthy delicious meals at home, which is something I always miss when I’m away. I also started working from my beautiful new office space this week, which has been SO beneficial for my work/life balance. I am so grateful to have this little spot that’s all mine to create and focus without any distractions or interruptions. I’ve recently made some big changes (more on that below) to make blogging, launching my YouTube channel, and health consulting my main focus this year so I can bring you guys the content you want to see and dedicate more of my attention to Blawnde. A big issue I was having before having this separate office space, was never knowing when to shut off. I didn’t understand how to separate my work and home life. I would be answering e-mails and interviews at midnight in bed because there was just no line of distinction to power down. Now I have a defined boundary – work is there and home is here. When I leave my office space, I am in home life mode and I think it’s a much healthier arrangement.
NOW, where I left off in my last post. !!!! Forbes released their 2016 30 Under 30 List and I am so beyond honored to be included. The pic above is from the Miami airport on the way home from St. Barths when I was finally able to get my hands on a copy! I can’t even begin to describe how surreal and humbling it is to be amongst such an incredible group of young entrepreneurial spirits that are following their dreams and changing the world. And I can’t explain how grateful I feel that people believe in me. We’ve all felt at times in our lives we aren’t going to make it, we aren’t good enough, etc. etc. and to have this kind of acknowledgment and the belief in my capabilities is something that I will never take for granted. I can’t thank Forbes, you guys, and everyone else in my life that listens to my crazy ideas, invests their time in me, and wants me to succeed, enough for caring about me and believing in me. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would be here 5 years ago when I was a law school dropout with nothing but a passion for health and no idea what was next. I have gone through so many ups and downs, good times and bad, and many sleepless nights not sure how everything would all work out. You never know where your life will take you, and taking a leap of faith into the unknown can be scary as hell. But more than anything, I am so so grateful that I did because it led me to where I am now and I wouldn’t be the same person and my life would look completely different had I accepted my circumstances on a path in which I was unhappy several years ago. My advice to any of you who may be unhappy, unfulfilled, or uninspired by your life, is to make a change. Don’t wait, don’t doubt, and don’t fear the unknown. It can’t be any scarier that what you do know, which is that you aren’t living the life you want to be living. To me, that’s the worst of all.
That said, I have some news to share with you. As you know, it is extremely important to me to believe in what I’m doing and be happy, inspired, and fulfilled. If I am investing my time and heart into something, I’ve got to have passion for it and it has to be for love. When things aren’t right for me or a situation isn’t correct, I will not accept it, and I will make a change. At the end of the day, I have to be true to myself and stand up for what I believe is right despite the discomfort involved in doing so. I have recently made the decision to step away from Suja as an active member. This was obviously a very difficult decision for me, and not something that happened overnight. There were lots of reasons I came to this decision, but a couple of them were big enough that I knew I could no longer move forward with my role at Suja. Companies change as they get bigger and lots of personalities become involved. There were things that I loved at the beginning of the company that became lost. There were personalities that changed and dynamics became different. Egos grew. There were things that just didn’t feel good anymore. When that happened I had to ask myself what was really important to me and in my life. And that answer came very quickly and easily – passion. Passion for what I’m doing, and passion for my life and the way I live it every day. And integrity. I have never been someone able to accept circumstances that are simply unacceptable to me, even if that’s the easier way to go. Additionally, I have changed, grown, and evolved. I have so many new ideas and a deep itch to create something new and contribute something fresh to the world that challenges and excites me (and hopefully excites you guys too!). With the momentum I’ve had the last couple of years, the timing feels right to dive full force into the creation of a new brand that I can’t wait to develop and introduce. So I made the decision to move forward in 2016 full of passion into the next phase that feels exhilarating, exciting, and so right for me. A big part of this will be much more focus on the blog this year, the launch of my YouTube channel next month, and the creation of this next brand.
I will share more with you guys in the coming weeks and months as things settle out about my experience, how I came to this decision, and what I’ve learned in the last few years. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and how much Suja has enriched my life. It began from a passion for health, nutrition, and helping people, and I will always have that within me. I am so excited to take that passion into a new project and begin a new journey, carrying with me the lessons I’ve learned.
I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for being part of my life, sharing in my growth, and inspiring me on a daily basis. Your endless support and kindness has been the best part of starting this little blog 2 years ago. I can’t wait to bring you along on the next adventure!
And before I go, I’m going to answer a quick question a lot of you had about this charcoal lipstick I posted on Instagram a couple days ago:
It’s “Punked” by Smashbox, and I got it at Sephora where it appears sold out now, but you can get it now here! It has a super matte finish, which is perfect and bold for nighttime, but for day to make it more wearable, I topped it with this gloss. Whenever you have a lip color that is a little out there or a tad shocking, just top it with a neutral gloss and it will instantly soften the harshness and make you feel more comfortable wearing it. This is my favorite gloss over bold colors because it has no pigment to alter the color of the lipstick and it is truly a glossy gloss. I feel like a lot of “glosses” don’t have that old school lip gloss glossiness anymore (know what I mean? I’m thinking 8th grade Loreal clear gloss tube – the real deal), but this one totally does.
And now I have a question for you: What do you want to see on YouTube and/or blog from me in 2016? Feel free to get specific!
