LA Diaries

March 23, 2015  //  Travel

LA21Happppy Monday! I hope you guys had a killer weekend! I spent mine catching up after a super fun week in LA and getting ready to spend next week there too! LA is super easy to get to from San Diego (if you leave at the right time otherwise traffic is the worst you’ve ever seen) and has become like a second home because I’m there so much and have all my fave things to do that I look forward to! Here’s my hit list:

FOR DATE NIGHT: Pace, Matsuhisa

FOR DINNER WITH FRIENDS: Laurel Hardware, Eveleigh, Sugarfish

FOR DRINKS: Ysabel

FOR A WORK MEETING: Soho House,

FOR A GIRLS LUNCH: Fig + Olive

FOR A GIRLS NIGHT: Chateau Marmont, Soho House

FOR SHOPPING: All the shops on Melrose Place and the cool, eclectic boutiques on Abbot Kinney

FOR BREAKFAST/BRUNCH: Joan’s on Third, FIG, Bottega Louie

PEOPLE WATCHING: Equinox, Rodeo Drive, Whole Foods 🙂

FOR A WORKOUT: Hike Runyon Canyon, Soul Cycle (although my friend Callie just told me about Cycle House so trying that next!!), Pure Barre

LA14This suitcase is my everything for short trips and fits a freakish amount of stuff. Shorts here, shoes here, and bag here!

LA20LA18LA17The Sunset Marquis is the perfect balance of private, cool, quiet, and happening. I love staying there and can work for hours in the restaurant overlooking the garden with a glass of wine in the most content state.

LA5True Food Kitchen – a fave in San Diego and a fave in LALA13Sushi dinner at Katsuya with my beautiful friend Jordan, AKA The Balanced Blonde, who is reason enough to spend half my time in LA

Since I love to mix it up, tell me, what are your fave LA gems?

Ahh, SO fabulous – love your list of LA musts! I haven’t been to LA in a little over two years (but I do plan on returning to Cali very soon!), so I especially appreciate your recommendations. And so fun that you and Jordan hung out! Her blog is another one of my favorites.

    Happy Monday, Annie!

Jordan is one of my favorite people in the world! Such a doll! I’m so glad you read her blog! XO

Loooooove this post!!! Makes me want to become a California girl. Literally so dreamy. I was just in SD last week and ugh- I love it all. This post just reminds me of that. Bookmarked this for sure for the next time I go back. Thanks!! 🙂

Joan’s on Third, Chateau Marmont, and Bottega Louie are to die for. Good choices 😉 If you’re ever in the mood for a very unhealthy treat, try the galbi poutine at Seoul Sausage. I don’t care if it kills me, it’s so so good. Sqirl is delicious, too. And Spago. I could go on forever..

do you put the eggs on the greens? or just eat them by themselves? I wish I could have greens for breakfast but they never sound good in the morning maybe I’m not doing it right.

  • blawnde

I might be biased, but CA is definitely heaven! 🙂 XO

  • blawnde

haha! thats funny! Love Sqirl! Was there for the first time last week and had the best lunch!! Mmmm… X

  • blawnde

Yes, I put the eggs and the salmon and the avocado and usually red onion and sometimes tomato on top. I crack the eggs and the runny yolk with everything else really flavors the greens and makes them not so…green…in the morning. Try it! X

Looks like a great trip! I have never actually been to LA. About 8 yrs ago we took a trip and flew into San Fran (loooove that place!) and drove up the coast to Portland. And I lived in Oceanside and San Diego when I was younger (like elementary / middle school – too young to really experience it the way I want to now!). I am forever nagging my hubby that we should move to Southern CA – similar weather to Florida but without all the humidity! And all the fresh seafood which sadly is lacking here. Maybe he needs a trip out there for convincing?! Hope your week is off to a fab start! Xo

I’d love to know exactly what your order for your room service breakfast! I imagine those are all a la carte?
