Hi everyone!!! Ahh where to begin? I’ve been running around like crazy getting shit done, but I’ve missed you and the bloggy sooooo! Happy to be back in action and to report that most of the dust has settled on recent projects and I have a bit less chaos on the horizon! I’m excited to share more with you guys about things I’ve been working on in the next couple months when I can talk more about them! I’ve been terrible about responding to comments, but please know I read every single one and so appreciate your shouts! Now for a little life updating…
This weekend I’m headed up to one of my favorite places ever – Big Sur! The boyfriend and I are cruising up the coast for a little road trip with no plans other than eat well, sleep well, hike, yoga, enjoy life, and chat about lots of random stuff on the way. I knew he was my dude when he could get all philosophical about life with me for hours and we liked each other more, not less, by the end of convo. I am really looking forward to recharging and powering down for a few days with my favorite human!
I’ve been doing lots of yoga lately which has been magical. Whenever I feel like things are a little out of control, yoga brings me back to center and reminds me that imbalance is all part of the overall balance of life. We will never feel like everything is perfectly aligned and going our way and that we have enough time. It’s OKAAAAAYYY. Breathe. That’s what yoga reminds me. Just breathe and let it go. Life’s looking a little crazy/busy/full right now. Whatever. Cool. Enjoy it. That’s one extreme. When it slows down, I will experience the other side of grounding, rooting, and going inward. Both of those sides contribute to ending up somewhere in the middle, looking somewhat like balance…in the big picture. This morning, my teacher Abby (I should really give her credit for also being my therapist because I talk to her about all kinds of stuff and she has the most valuable nuggets of wisdom) said “balance is a moving target, when you fall out just get right back in, no judgment”. That really resonated with me because she’s right! Knowing that balance is always changing, always moving, and always looking/feeling different is a big revelation. You can’t pin it down once and for all and say “I got it!” It is something we must constantly create without expecting perfection. You know?
Ok, now that I’ve told you my life story, let’s discuss clothes. Specifically these new faves. This shorts/skirt hybrid is one of my most loved wardrobe pieces! Since we’re talking about balance, it’s worth noting that I’m a huge fan of androgynous garments balancing boy and girl vibes. The bold column skirt overlay is heavier and masculine while the shorts underneath are sexy and feminine. The sharp and the soft makes this piece interesting, edgy and modern, but still playful. Because I’m a black fiend, anytime I find a cool solid black piece that is different from anything else I own, I get it. The top of this outfit is actually a playsuit which I used to never even consider wearing because they felt like a leotard from being a child ballerina, but this one is amazing! Playsuits really are the trick to wearing a super deep V without having a nip slip because they’re anchored by the bottom half that, well, since there’s no better way to say it, wraps around your crotch. It’s kind of like those hideous leggings with stirrups around your ankles – they aren’t riding up. And this top is not flying open. Unless you’re me (more on that below). I wore this with black skinnies in Cabo which I loved and also with jean cut offs and wedges for lunch with my girlfriends.
Skirt: Gareth Pugh (almost sold out, but THIS is super similar! also have and love THIS, also here) // Bodysuit: Lovers + Friends // Shoes: Balenciaga (similar on sale) // Bag: Chloe // Sunnies: Ray Ban
