I’ve had this tab on the blog for a while so you could get the gist of what this book was all about, but I wanted to do a formal post now that it’s available to give you a bit more information and explain why this book is different and the inspiration behind it! What I feel is so important about The Suja Juice Solution is that i’ts not a cleanse at all – it’s a complete lifestyle shift. I don’t want someone to read this book with the mindset that when they finish, it’s over. WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR WRITING THIS BOOK?
This book was inspired by the current “cleanse” culture and a desire to shift people’s perspective from trying not to eat but learning HOW to eat. While there is certainly a place and time for an all-juice fast, many people turn to them for a quick fix of weight loss, correction of bad eating, or punishment for making unhealthy lifestyle choices. The problem with this approach is that people revert to their previous habits as soon as the “cleanse” is finished because they haven’t learned anything valuable about how to properly select, portion, order, and prepare foods. They also haven’t learned how to tune into true hunger cues, use certain foods to kill cravings for others, and enjoy the process of eating healthy. This plan is meant to teach people how to detox their diet in a lasting and sustainable way without promising some false result of magically detoxing their body and flushing out all toxins so they can go back to eating whatever they want again.
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING SOMEONE SHOULD CHANGE ABOUT THE WAY THEY EAT?
Remove added sugars! That’s it. If you’re having a salad, use olive oil and balsamic vinegar instead of a bottled dressing with 10g of sugar per serving. If you’re having a sugary breakfast cereal, buy an unsweetened whole grain option and add fruit on top instead. If you’re having a sugary bottled tea, brew your own and squeeze in some lemon. All of the added sugars in food really add up and are most often highly processed. You’re much better off eating unsweetened foods and adding your own natural sweetness in a moderate amount from fruit, coconut sugar, honey, maple syrup, or stevia. You want to control the amount of sugar you consume, not the food industry.

You will inevitably fall off the wagon, make some bad choices, and deviate from the plan from time to time. That is OK. Don’t dwell on it or fall into a black hole of feeling terrible. Just start again with the very next meal and move on. Nobody is perfect so don’t expect yourself to be.
