Wedding Updates + Registering!

March 30, 2017  //  Style

Hi my loves!!

I wanted to do a chit chat post to update you guys on life lately and how wedding planning is going since I got engaged! I have been a bit tunnel vision on wedding things as of late, so I figured I would get on here and share my progress and let you all know how things are coming along.

We got engaged in October, and it took me a good couple months or so to wrap my mind around thinking about the wedding. I was really enjoying being engaged and I felt like there was so much to do, I didn’t even know where to start. Instead of being overwhelmed, I decided to take a minute to soak in the excitement of our engagement and get through the holidays with no stress. After the new year, I decided to start easing myself into the planning process, and spent the month of January digging into the basics: location, size, wedding planner, and guest list.

I knew I wanted a small wedding before ever getting engaged, because I love the intimacy of having all of your closest people together and being able to actually talk to and spend time with everyone at your wedding. I also knew I wanted a destination wedding to create lifelong lasting memories and also add to the intimate feeling of the people you love all together for a few days away from our daily lives with the total focus on each other.

Once we nailed down the location and size, I switched my attention to my dress! I was so nervous about finding something I love because I really had no idea what I wanted. As I’ve told you before, I was true tomboy growing up, and never really envisioned my wedding or had grand dreams of my “perfect dress”. I decided to head to NYC to see one of my best girlfriends and meet up with my wedding planner for a fun little week of shopping, eating, and trying on all sorts of styles and designers. Without spilling the details on the dress I chose, I will say it was one of the first ones I tried on and kept coming back to because it could not be more “me”. I felt prettier than I have ever felt the minute I put it on. So that was a major check off the list.

Next up is registry! To be honest, I didn’t plan on registering. Throughout the years and multiple moves, I have collected some beautiful pieces. When fiancé and I moved in together, he also had multiple sets of dishes, appliances, silverware, glassware, etc. Together…we have a lot of stuff.

When Bloomingdale’s reached out about their registry, I was interested to learn about the process and check out all of their beautiful pieces. I am so impressed by all of the amazing products they carry, and it inspired me to think about registering for the fun things I really WANT! As you already know, I love to cook and spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I love preparing healthy food and finding fun ways to make everyday dishes in a healthier way. Since I travel so much, being home and preparing my own meals is really therapeutic and fun for me because I love taking a break from eating out so much. I was so excited to see an incredible selection of two of my favorite kitchen brands – Vitamix and AllClad – on the Bloomingdale’s registry.

The top two things I use daily in our kitchen are our Vitamix and our All-Clad cookware. Having a great set of cookware for a multitude of scenarios is one of the best purchases you can ever make for your home. Great cookware makes tackling any fun recipes and entertaining guests so much easier, and it really enables you to get the most of your ingredients and your time in the kitchen. I have found having beautiful cookware in a variety of shapes and sizes makes the cooking process so enjoyable because I can easily manage everything I have going on in the kitchen at once with no hassle.

And where do I begin with the Vitamix? Oh, how I love thee. It was such a staple for me throughout high school and college, and still gets daily use in our household. I have made raw cheeses, smoothies, soups, flours, vegan desserts, and so so much more with that thing. Mine has seen fire and rain, and it might be time for a fresh, shiny new one (eyeing the copper Rose Gold version) or even a backup so I can have a couple things going on at once.

So, registering is no longer out of the question for me thanks to Bloomingdale’s and their selection of things I really love and know I would use and enjoy for years to come. Scrolling through all of the wonderful items they have (like Marchesa x Lenox dishes!!!) has me lusting after so many things I know would be wonderful additions to our home.

For my married readers – I would love to know which items you received for your wedding that you registered for that you find yourself using the most in your daily life now? For my non-married readers – what are the first items you would register for if you get married?

Talk soon!

Totally with you on the All-clad! It’s totally awesome! We got it as a wedding present and it was in a big box the past year and a half, in the basement at my parents’ house! I finally retrieved it and unpacked it last month, and am so glad I finally did! 🙂 Hope you find lots of great stuff for your registry that you will use! One item we got which has been really helpful was a digital kitchen scale, that had been really helpful for recipes when you need to be precise. Like baking, or getting the right amount of ounces on something. And I love the Riedel wine glasses (Igor Boredeaux and Sauv Blanc) since they are so elegant for wine at home, and having enough for guests makes them feel like they are at a restaurant 🙂 I ❤ those little touches 🙂

So exciting on the wedding planning and the dress! I had the same experience with selecting my dress-one of the early ones I tried on. When you know, you know! 🙂 you will be a beautiful bride! Are you gonna do a veil? I did, since a lot of people tole me they didn’t, and wished they had. I got one hat I could take out of my hair, itwas removable, so I could take it off after the ceremony. Wishing you the best in the process!

After being married for 18 years I can honestly say we don’t use our fine china much. I would def. get it if you are planning on entertaining a lot, and I mean like sit down dinner entertaining. I have found that’s more a pain in the ass and I prefer more casual, smaller cocktail parties without all the drama of trying to make a gourmet meal. Love the Vitamix and All Clad. One other thing I would recommend if you are a foodie, is a decent cast iron skillet. Not very glamours but very versatile.
